Greensboro Health Hub
Welcoming current participants and future participants to have a look at some of the services we offer. We are here to help provide safe drug use supplies for the community for every step of the drug use continuum.
Drug Testing & Checking
Drug Checking Importance
Given the increasingly unpredictable nature of the drug supply, FT-IR Spectroscopy provides NCSU’s participants & our community with invaluable information about what potentially unwanted or unknown adulterants, cuts, and other substances are in the drugs they are using. This allows NCSU’s staff to tailor the public health and safety messaging to the unique composition of the drugs participants are using, giving them the information they need to empower them to make well-informed decisions regarding their drug use. Given many of the substances we have found in the various samples that have been brought in over the past couple of years, this work is more important than ever.
Come get your drug sample tested today. Safe drug supply saves lives!

"Why do I need a membership card, I don't come often enough?"
A membership card at NCSU protects you legally from being charged for having our supplies and any residue in the supplies. This means that if you are pulled over or stopped by law enforcement and have these supplies on you, as long as you have a card from us, you are protected under law from being charged.

Supplies FAQ
Alcohol Prep Pads
Prep pads clean the surface of the skin before injecting: this not only keeps your skin clean, lowering the risk of disease, but it also promotes vein health and makes it easier to find veins in the long run. Using old alcohol pads or none at all allows for the spread of diseases such as MRSA on your skin and can have a negative impact on veins over time.
Antibiotic Ointment
Applying antibiotic ointment after a scab has formed over your injection site can help promote healthy skin, reduce risk of HC/blood borne diseases, and abscesses and other skin infections. It also can help to reduce scarring.
Condoms
Even if you are in a monogamous sexual relationship, you should have condoms! Not only will they help to prevent unintended pregnancy/scares, they prevent the spread of STIs. We provide both male and female condoms.
Cookers
Used cookers, just like cottons, can harbor blood which can spread HCV and other blood borne infections. Reusing a cooker/using someone else’s can lead to a higher risk for these infections.
All cookers are not made the same.
Cottons
Using old cottons can lead to multiple different health complications. Blood from using another person’s used cottons can contain HCV/other blood borne infections. It can also, more commonly known, lead to Cotton Fever, an infection that comes from the bacteria in old cottons and includes symptoms such as high fever, vomiting, body pain, trouble breathing, and distorted breathing.
Naloxone- oxygen is the antidote for an overdose.
Everyone who walks in the door of our exchange should have Narcan! Even if you are not currently using opiates, if you know anyone who is or if you go out in public as any given time, you should have this on you. You never know when and where someone might need it.
Syringes ( 1cc 27g 5/8 inch ,3og 5/16 inch,1cc 28g 1/2 inch)
Reduces the transmission of blood-borne pathogens, including HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV), and hepatitis C virus (HCV).
Ties
Old and used ties/tourniquets can be covered in dangerous microorganisms and bacteria, including MRSA! Old blood and skin cells covering the tie can lead to infectious diseases and outbreaks such as MRSA or other staph infections, the old material can also irritate skin. If you don’t tie off that is really bad for your veins.
Water
Clean water can be detrimental to your health. Contaminated water that is injected straight into your body can have HCV/other blood-borne diseases, and dirty water alone can be riddled with dangerous bacteria that can have many adverse effects on your health.
